American Rifleman | NRA Gun of the Week: Del-Ton Sierra 316L MLOK

What began in North Carolina as a supplier of parts and accessories for the modern American sporting rifle Del-Ton Inc. now offers a full line of turnkey semi-automatic rifles. The company’s Sierra 316L, featured in this week’s video preview, offers the versatility of a modernized AR-15 platform while maintaining a cost-conscious approach.

Del-Ton supplies 7075 T6 aluminum, forged top and bottom receivers that are hard coated anodized for a matte black finish. The flat upper is configured for right ejection, along with a forward assist mechanism and an ejection port cover.

The Sierra 316L has a 15-inch handguard. Thanks to Magpul’s MLOK mounting system, users can easily add accessories when needed. Del-Ton delivers a light profile, 16-inch barrel. A twist rate of 1 to 7 inches is included, and the barrel is threaded and locked in place with a birdcage-style flash hider.

The lower end of the gun is equipped with standard no-frills controls. There is a two-position safety switch on the left and a magazine release button on the right. The rifle’s Mil-Spec buffer tube is equipped with a collapsible buttstock with five positions. Here, too, there are provisions for securing the sling.
