An off duty Pentagon police officer defended himself against an armed youth who tried to rob him on the night of March 24, 2021.

The victim, a member of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, was near Oxon Run Park in Washington, DC around 9:20 p.m. that Wednesday night when a youth walked up to him and pulled a gun at him. The 16-year-old then tried to rob the man at gunpoint before a fight broke out and the off duty officer tried to disarm the youth. The officer then drew his pistol and shot the juvenile robber in the arm.

The teenager was rushed to a local hospital for his non-life threatening injury before being taken into custody. He is charged with assault and intent to commit an armed robbery. As it turned out, the pistol the teen used in the attempted robbery was a BB gun that the officer was unable to detect during the incident. (nbcwashington

A man and woman walked into a jewelry store in Blackwood, New Jersey and asked for gold rings. When owner Anthony Travia put a ring compartment on the counter, the man drew a pistol and asked for all the jewelry. Instead, Travia pulled out his own revolver and shot the shooter in an exchange of fire. The accomplice was kept in check until the police could arrive. (The Bulletin, Philadelphia, Penn.)
