Bell Gardens Police Find ‘Ghost Gun,’ Searching for Suspect – NBC Los Angeles

On Sunday, authorities sought public help in finding a man who got off a vehicle during a chase with police in Bell Gardens and left a “ghost weapon” – a weapon with no manufacturer’s printed serial number – near or in his car would have.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle sometime on Friday due to a traffic violation, sparking a chase that ended at the 6600 block on Garfield Avenue, Lt. Ruben Musquiz of the Bell Gardens Police Department.

The driver fled to an adjacent residential area on foot, Musquiz said.

“Where the driver was last seen, officers found a loaded 9mm pistol with an expanded magazine,” he said. “The pistol is commonly referred to as a ‘ghost weapon’ because it does not have a serial number imprinted by the manufacturer.”

The police set up a perimeter, but the suspect could not be found. Bell Gardens police asked anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to call them at 562-806-7617.
