Bond set at $500,000 for suspect in newspaper carrier shooting | Police
Bond was set at $ 500,000 for a Marshall man arrested in the shooting of a Marshall News Messenger and Longview News Journal delivery driver.
Pct, um, um, um, um, 2 Judge of Justice of the Peace Clarice Watkins noted the bond for 20 year old Jose Manuel Galvan Saturday morning.
The Marshall Police Department arrested Galvan Friday for grievous bodily harm with a deadly weapon, which is a second degree crime.
Galvan was originally identified as a person of interest after a 34-year-old newspaper delivery man was shot and wounded in Marshall early Friday, police said.
Police said the victim, who was later taken to a Longview hospital for surgery, was delivering newspapers when she was shot and killed near 500 Oak Street in Marshall.
Investigating the crime scene led officers to believe the gunman had shot from a window on the second floor.
The officers contacted a person at the residence who was later identified as Galvan. Preliminary bullet residue indicated that Galvan had recently fired a gun.
MPD detectives were given a warrant to search Galvan’s residence and, during the search, found an AR15 rifle, spent cartridge cases and a large quantity of illicit THC products.
