D.L. Hughley Says CO Shooter’s Race Irrelevant, Access to Guns is the Issue

DL Hughley People who split their hair over the Colorado shooter race are missing the point – and that point is this … easy access to guns is the real root of the American mass shooting problem.
The comedian, writer and activist gave us his thoughts on Tuesday in LAX about the 10 people killed in Boulder on Monday when police said Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa opened fire in a grocery store.
Though the release of Alissa’s name had the phrase “He’s a Muslim” trending on Twitter on Tuesday, DL say people who advance this narrative are missing the point … largely because the vast majority of the mass shooters in America are white.

Regardless of what race or religion the rifleman was, DL says that wouldn’t change the bigger problem … the ease with which people can purchase guns like an AR-15 – which Alissa used – as well as large supplies of ammunition .
He draws an interesting parallel between gun hoarding and cold medicine – when you explain that one of those purchases attracts more glances than the other … and it’s not what you might think.
Lots of good nuggets of DL on politics and what needs to happen to make real change to gun laws with common sense. There is also a push at Sen. Ted Cruzwhich he clearly sees as an obstacle to real gun reform in America.
