Detained parole in Seaside after police shooting and pursuit

A probation officer was arrested after a shootout and collision with a police car during a chase, according to the Seaside Police Department, in a black Mercedes-Benz at around 12:45 p.m. that pulled away from the scene with a stop sign. The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver led the officer on a chase. During the chase, police said the driver threw a loaded semi-automatic pistol out of the driver’s side window. The driver also collided with a patrol car while trying to escape, but the officers arrested him and took him into custody. The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Juan Watson at Seaside City Prison on multiple charges.

Officers were responding to a reported shootout near Palm Avenue and Contra Costa Streets when an officer spotted a black Mercedes-Benz pulling away from the scene with a stop sign.

The officer tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver led the officer in pursuit.

According to police, the driver threw a loaded semi-automatic pistol out of the driver’s side window during the chase.

The driver collided with a patrol car while trying to escape, but the officers arrested him and took him into custody.

The suspect was identified as 42-year-old Juan Watson.

He was booked into Seaside City Jail on multiple charges.
