Fall River Police arrest two after break in

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) – The Fall River Police responded to a report of a break-in on Monday night in which two suspects were arrested.

Jose Almeida, 38, and Anahi Rodrigues, 39, were caught breaking and entering an apartment at 306 Bank St.

The first report said a woman, Rodrigues, yelled outside the apartment and asked to be let in.

Almeida then broke the door open with a crowbar.

Police said when officers arrived at the scene, they were told that the two suspects had fled to the back yard.

Officers found Almeida on the fire escape with a crowbar. Rodrigues was still in the back yard, holding a black backpack.

She put the backpack on the floor when she saw the officers.

The police discovered an AR15 pistol in the backpack, which was loaded with two loaded cartridges.

Both suspects were arrested.

Almeida is charged with the following charges:

  • Attempt to commit a crime by breaking and entering during the day with the intention of committing a crime
  • Possession of breaking tools

Rodrigues, who previously had an arrest warrant against her, is charged with the following charges:

  • Attempt to commit a crime by breaking and entering during the day with the intention of committing a crime
  • Possession of breaking tools
  • Try to commit a crime
  • Breaking and entering during the night with the intent to commit a crime
  • Have a large capacity firearm
  • Owning a large capacity firearm feeder
  • Possession of ammunition without an FID card
  • Gun injury with three previous violent / drug crimes
  • Having a large capacity firearm in a crime
  • Carrying a firearm on a public path
