Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) investigators and other law enforcement partners arrested two people Wednesday night, including one for attempted murder in a shooting a year ago.

At 5:23 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2020, East Precinct officials in the Southeast 106th Avenue and Southeast Division Street area responded with a report of multiple shots being fired. Officers arrived and found evidence of gunfire. There were no injuries. East officers located a crime scene that included an occupied vehicle that had been shot at. There were no known injuries from this incident.

Investigators have been following the case ever since. They developed information that suspect Abukar S. Sheikh, who was 18 at the time and is now 19, was responsible for the shooting.

At around 9:00 p.m. on April 14, 2021, ECST officers, assisted by the Portland Police Air Support Unit and Washington County’s Tactical Negotiations Team (TNT), arrested Sheikh during a traffic obstruction in the 4800 Block of Southwest Greensboro Way in Beaverton , Oregon.

The officers also arrested 32-year-old Alex D. Williams-Davis, who was a passenger in a Sheikh-operated vehicle. Williams was in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol (photo attached).

A search warrant was carried out at a related location on the 4800 block of Southwest Greensboro Way and additional weapon-related evidence was seized.

No force was used to influence these arrests or serve the search warrants.

Sheikh has been sent to the Multnomah County Detention Center for attempted second-degree murder, attempted first-degree assault, and illegal use of a weapon.

Williams-Davis was admitted to the Multnomah County Detention Center for crimes in possession of a gun, unlawful possession of a gun, and possession of a loaded gun in public (city code).
