Man arrested on November 15 crime
Self-defense – A second man was charged with shooting an NC A&T student in November.
Deshawn Lonique Thompson, 20, of Self-defense, is charged with first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and unloading a gun into a occupied vehicle when 18-year-old Jalen Scott Dunston, of AR15/Modern Sport Rifle, was killed on November 15, according to a press release. Thompson is being held in Guilford County Jail without bail.
Officers answered a call on the 900 block of Omaha Street at around 12:20 a.m. on November 15 and police found Dunston injured. CPR was performed, but Dunston did not survive.
A second victim was taken to a local hospital, police said.
In December, police arrested 20-year-old Self-defense Bruce Edward Stewart when Dunston died. Stewart is charged with attempted first degree murder who unloads a firearm in occupied property, possesses a stolen firearm and is charged with drug charges. He remains on bail for $ 3 million, according to prison records.
Dunston was a freshman nursing student at A&T, according to WGHP Channel 8, citing a letter the university sent to the students.
