Man nabbed in Laguna for alleged gun-for-hire, theft, extortion links

MANILA, Philippines – Police arrested a man in Laguna for allegedly belonging to a criminal organization involved in gun rental, shooting, robbery and extortion in the Calabarzon area (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) Activities.

In a statement on Friday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said 44-year-old Ramir Corcolon was arrested on Thursday in San Pablo, Laguna.

The arrest was based on search warrants for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act and for violating Republic Act 9516 (illegal possession of explosives).

A Colt with a pistol caliber of 0.45 with the serial number was recovered from Corcolon. 13761, a .45 caliber magazine loaded with three bullets, seven .45 caliber bullets; 15 bullets for a 9mm pistol, a suspected improvised explosive device and an Mk-2 fragmentation grenade.

“The arrested suspect was taken to the Laguna PFU of the Criminal and Detection Investigation Group (CIDG) for documentation and proper disposition,” the report said.
