Gun maker Remington has announced the location of its new global headquarters, and the highly anticipated news will have a major jobs impact.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s office said Nov. 8 that Remington Firearms will build its new headquarters in LaGrange, just south of Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport.

The facility, representing a $100 million investment, will include new advanced manufacturing operations and is expected to create 856 jobs in Troup County over a five-year period.

Remington said the new headquarters will produce several of the company’s products, which include shotguns, rifles, and handguns. The headquarters will also include a new research and development center.

The company said it will soon begin hiring for a variety of positions at the facility, including jobs in production, operations, engineering, and management. Neither the company nor Gov. Kemp’s office provided a timeline for the facility’s development.

Remington’s announcement did not mention whether the new headquarters would impact the company’s current operations in New York and Tennessee.

Remington Firearms owns the gun production operations of the former Remington Outdoor Co. that was sold in a bankruptcy auction in 2020. The Remington brand of firearms has been in operation since 1816.
