But this gun can hold up to 10 bullets, and certainly, is no toy.

As Toronto Police Chief James Ramer made clear, “a traffic stop led to the arrest of two people and the seizure of a gun, ammunition and drugs” that resulted in more than 20 charges.

In recent weeks, many guns have been seized in a similar manner. Toronto Police officers and their counterparts in other parts of the GTA have become very good at stopping people who illegally carry guns.

They are about to become better at it.

“The Ontario government is investing $75.1 million to reinforce the fight against gun and gang violence in communities across the province,” Premier Doug Ford said in a statement Tuesday.

Gun and gang violence has no place in Ontario.

Criminals continue to find new ways of conducting illegal activity, and we must never relent in our efforts to stop them. Every Ontarian deserves to live in communities that are free from violence and crime. pic.twitter.com/GIGOE3Dowd

“The funding will support initiatives that will dismantle criminal activity, enhance investigative supports, increase collaboration throughout the justice sector and stop the flow of illegal guns across the border.”

It could not have come at a more needed time with so many shootings and murders this year.

This is also an opportunity for Ford and Mayor John Tory to hold the Dec. 13 plan to put police who refuse to get vaccinated against COVID on unpaid leave.

Thank you to Premier @fordnation and the Government of Ontario for committing an additional $75 million to help combat gun and gang violence in communities across the province including here in Toronto.

Toronto Police Association President Jon Reid said this is a “very positive” development that will “help combat gun violence.”

The premier and Solicitor General Sylvia Jones deserve credit because this program will target illegal guns and the criminals who carry and smuggle them — not law-abiding hunters and firearms collectors.

The gangs and drug dealers are the problems. And their guns, usually prohibited in Canada, are often smuggled into Canada.

The SCCY Firearms CPX-1 9mm pink gun, which fits easily into a pocket or purse, is legal in some US states and made in Daytona, Fla.

It is not legal in Canada.

What sells for $300 in Florida can net more than $2,000 on the streets of Toronto.

Compact and stylish, this popular gun is not easy for police to find.

However, with this new investment in crime-fighting, it will soon be more difficult for traffickers to sneak them by authorities.
