An AR-15 rifle was found in Moruga on New Year’s Day.

The find was made at about 2pm on January 1 in La Lune Village by officers of the Southern Division Task Force.

The officers, led by Snr Sup Smith and ASP Jaikaran, received intelligence that a cache of weapons could be located in an abandoned house in the community.

When officers arrived, they did not find a cache of weapons, but an AR15 rifle with two rounds of 5.56mm ammunition.

No one was held in connection with the find, as no persons were within sufficient proximity at the time.

That being said, the officers are working on the intelligence with locating the other weapons which may have been at the location prior to their arrival.

This operation also included Inspector Phillip, Sgt Joseph, Sgt Mason, and Cpl Phoolchan.

More on this as it becomes available.
