Motorway police are looking for gun owners

LAURINBURG – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is looking for the owner of a firearm found in 2019.

The firearm was found at a collision site on Lees Mill Road near State Route 1431 at 6:55 a.m. on March 2, 2019, according to a Highway Patrol statement. The exact location was about 3.5 miles north of Laurinburg.

“The handgun is a 9mm model SCCY pistol, serial number # 251058,” the statement said. “The legal owner of this handgun should contact Sgt. ME Heon at 910-557-9091; In addition, the applicant must prove possession of this weapon. If no one claims ownership of the firearm within 30 days of the date of this publication, the firearm may be sold or otherwise disposed of in accordance with NCGS 15-11.2. “

This wasn’t the last gun on Lees Mill Road. On Thursday, Laurinburg police found a Taurus 9mm pistol in the street. The gun had been reported stolen from Dillon, South Carolina and there were no charges related to the gun.
