Parole Jumper Nabbed With Assault Rifle, Semi-Automatic Pistol, Police Say
A Connecticut man wanted to jump on parole was found with an assault rifle and a semi-automatic pistol when he was caught at a hotel in the area.
Tijun Mims, 26, from Hamden, was arrested on Thursday, February 18, in an incident that took place on Thursday, February 4, at the Red Roof Inn in Milford, Milford Police said.
When Mims was arrested on February 4 as a probation officer for the Department of Corrections, he was in possession of an assault rifle, a semi-automatic pistol and four high-capacity magazines, police said.
Milford police received a search warrant to confiscate the firearms and an arrest warrant for Mims.
The warrant was served on February 18 while Mims was in custody at the New Haven Correctional Center.
Mims was accused:
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Possession of an assault weapon
- Four possession counts of a high capacity magazine
Mims was held in the custody of CT DOC on a $ 150,000 bond until his indictment.
