Paterson teen arrested with semi-automatic pistol on Slater Street

Public safety director Jerry Speziale said a town teenager was arrested on Slater Street early Wednesday night in possession of a semi-automatic pistol.

Kenrick Flores, 18, has been charged with gun and drug offenses. At around 6:52 p.m., he was part of a group of people on the 200 block off Slater Street

Detectives were in the area, watching the gathering outside a residence.

“Yo, cops,” yelled one person, alerting someone of the police presence.

Flores dumped heroin powder on the sidewalk as detectives approached, police said. The police took 30 glassine sleeves of heroin from the sidewalk. While the police were arresting him, detectives pulled a loaded Para regulation 45 caliber semi-automatic pistol from his waistband.

Flores is being held in Passaic County Jail pending a hearing.
