Pockets, handgun taken from center console of parked, unlocked vehicles | News
Bloomfield Township Police said a woman’s wallet and a man’s 9mm pistol were removed from the center console of two separately parked, unlocked vehicles on Wednesday.
Both vehicles appear to have been parked in the residents’ home at the time of the theft, on the 400 block on Kenry Drive for the wallet and on the 400 block on Evansdale Drive for the gun.
In the case of the woman’s wallet, the woman told police that someone took her wallet sometime between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. after leaving her GMC Yukon unlocked overnight.
The wallet contained ID and credit cards that the suspect allegedly used to buy electronics in another city, the woman told police.
As for the gun, the man told police that he parked his 2020 Jeep Cherokee in the driveway of his house between 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and left it unlocked.
He returned to find the gun was missing and called the police.
Bloomfield Township Police would like to remind residents not to leave handguns or other valuables in an unlocked vehicle and to remember to lock the car doors.
Both cases are currently being investigated. Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomfield Township Police Department at (248) 433-7755.
