BOSTON (WHDH) – Two teenage girls are charged with multiple firearms in connection with an exchange of fire that took place in Roxbury on Monday night.

Officers who responded to reports of gunfire near 2400 Washington Street at around 5:45 p.m. said they heard the gunfire and ducked for cover, a department release said.

A gunshot seeker that activated near 43 St. James Street triggered a response from officials and others in the area and two girls believed to be 15 and 16 years old were walking out fled the area.

The younger of the two is said to have thrown a loaded Glock 22 .40 caliber pistol that was later salvaged by police.

Officials said they saw a nearby parked car that was shot at close range.
