Police make arrest in killing at North Little Rock pizzeria
North Little Rock police arrested a man in connection with the death of a 32-year-old woman at around 8 p.m. on Sunday at Chuck E. Cheese on Landers Road, according to a press release on Monday afternoon.
Marlon Marbley Jr., 21, of Little Rock, surrendered to detectives at 12:30 p.m. Monday and was charged with capital murder.
When officers arrived on site on Sunday evening, they found a woman identified as Christina Clay, 32, from White Hall on the floor outside the store’s doors. She had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release.
Investigators found that Clay attended a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese for her friend’s 2-year-old son. During the party, Clay and Marbley, the 2-year-old’s father, got into an argument, the press release said. Clay and several other people went outside to smoke and talk.
Marbley and another man left the shop and started a fight with Clay. During the disruption, Marbley pulled out a black semi-automatic pistol and pointed it at Clay, according to the press release.
Marbley’s family and friends who were outside pushed Marbley to get him to leave the area. He declined and ran over to Clay as she went back to the store, according to the press release. As soon as Marbley was a few feet from Clay, he started shooting and hit her several times. Marbley then fled the area in his vehicle.
Following his arrest, Marbley was taken to Pulaski County Jail, where he is being held untied until his first appearance, according to a press release.
