Yesterday at about 7:06 am, Secaucus police at the Red Roof Inn at 15 Meadowlands Parkway responded to a report from a “man with a gun” in a vehicle in the parking lot, Miller said in a statement.
Upon arrival, police officers located Damere Demarest, which matched the caller’s description.
Demarest, 28, of Paterson, had a loaded 9mm SCCY CPX-2 pistol with him and was subsequently arrested.
“I applaud the tipster in this case for having the courage to report suspected criminal activity to the police,” Miller began.
“I am also grateful that this arrest was made and that a firearm was confiscated without any of the police officers responding having to use force.”
Demarest has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of pistol ammunition. He processed and was referred back to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
