Police: Man who pointed gun at officers arrested after falling in snow in Boston – Boston Information, Climate, Sports

BOSTON (WHDH) – A Brockton man accused of pointing a gun at officers was arrested after sliding in the snow and falling to the ground in Boston late Tuesday night.

Officers who stopped in traffic on London Street around 11 p.m. saw a group of men gathering on a nearby sidewalk before one of the men, later identified as Erick Mariona, 20, came in with a gun right hand on the cruiser went police.

Mariona stopped and raised the gun in the direction of the officers. She told them to get off their cruiser and order the gun to be dropped, police said.

Mariona was reportedly running down an alley towards Havre Street and officers were chasing him.

When he reached the end of the alley, he turned to the officers and raised the gun in their direction a second time before sliding onto the snow and falling to the ground, police said.

Mariona was arrested and police say they found a 9mm firearm with 10 rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one shot in the chamber.

He is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon – pistol, illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition.

Additional officers at the scene stopped the four people Mariona was with and performed a pat-frisk.

An officer noticed two firearms in a pile of snow near the group – a Springfield 9mm armory with 12 rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one shot in the chamber, and a Taurus PT709 Cal 9mm with a deleted serial number Five rounds of ammunition in the magazine and a shot in the chamber, said the police.

Further investigation of the pile of snow reportedly revealed two additional firearms – a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm with a serial number erased, loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one shot in the chamber, and a SCCY CPX-Z 9mm with nine rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one round in the chamber.

Three of the men in the group, Maurice Nunez, 25, from Boston, Deandre Clark, 21, from Brockton and Henry Smith, 21, from Chelsea, were arrested for illegal possession of a gun and ammunition.

These suspects are expected to be tried along with Mariona in East Boston District Court.

A 13-year-old from East Boston was also arrested for Crimes: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Offense: Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

He is due to be tried in the Boston Juvenile Court.
