DECATUR – A terrified Decatur woman told police she was attacked by her drunk and high-ranking friend, and the attack got worse when she tried to hide his gun.

A Decatur police affidavit said the 32-year-old woman tried to hold off her 10-month-old boyfriend when he came for the gun and she was punched in the nose before he retrieved the semi-automatic pistol.

“(She) ran from the bedroom to the nursery. Inside were her two children, aged 13 and 12, and a friend of a child aged 12, ”Officer Michael Claypool wrote in the affidavit.

“(The friend) pushed himself into this bedroom and slapped her face twice. She then took the three children with her and ran away from home. “

The affidavit said the violence took place between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on February 15, and the police arrived and arrested the friend at the house the couple shared. Police said the woman dried blood around her nose and mouth, and abrasions on her neck, face and chest, and several broken fingernails, adding to her story of physical attacks.

She is quoted as saying he suddenly put his hands around her neck and strangled her before pressing his fist firmly into the left side of her face and tearing off her wig.
