Poughkeepsie man charged with illegal gun possession

POUGHKEEPSIE – A 38-year-old Poughkeepsie resident with a previous gun charge was arrested by Poughkeepsie City Police on the crime of criminal possession of a gun. Kevin Moore was arrested at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Main Street and Davies Place.

Police officers say patrolmen carried out a traffic disruption of a vehicle where multiple traffic violations were observed. During the investigation, officers removed Moore, the driver and sole occupant of the car, and searched the vehicle.

An illegally owned, loaded, .40 caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic pistol was recovered.

Moore was processed at police headquarters and held for prosecution. Police said additional charges are pending.

In addition to his previous gun conviction, Moore has a DWI conviction over an incident in Westchester County.
