President Biden’s Misfire on ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban ~ VIDEO
USA – (AmmoLand.com) – President Joe Biden continued to be a “listener” bringing “unity” and “healing” to America. But he doesn’t listen. His deaf and mute call for increased gun controls – including a ban on “offensive weapons” – comes amid a record-breaking flood of firearms and ammunition purchases Record low public appetite for gun control.
Instead of listening to the voters, President Biden ignored them and called for a ban on the AR-15, or the modern sports rifle (MSR). In doing so, he will violate the constitutional rights of millions of Americans.
21 million background checks and counts
Last year was historic for Americans who bought firearms. They voted for the second amendment with their wallets at the arms dealer. Of the more than 21 million Background checks for a gun sale completed, an estimated 8.4 million retailers were first-time buyers. This is not slower Data shows that modern sporting rifles (MSRs) continue to be America’s most popularly sold Center fire rifle.
Even before the buying spike, NSSF reported that it was over 20 million MSRs are in circulation and used for lawful purposes on a daily basis. These are clearly generally owned firearms and their popularity is growing significantly.
Dark Storm Industries produces their own MSR, the DS-15 Typhoon. The New York based company booted Production to meet the exploding demand. DSI co-owner Ed Newman put it succinctly.
“People are scared of the coronavirus and the possible long-term effects of it,” Newman said. “The defeat of the police movement, as well as the unrest we have seen in certain cities, have made even the most skeptical of people suddenly concerned about the safety of their families.”
DSI is a small manufacturer that put up big numbers in 2020. The company typically produces 2,000 to 2,500 MSRs per year. In 2020, that number was closer to 10,000. Production and sales figures are similar with all MSR manufacturers and correlate with one of five firearms sold in America as MSR.
Megan Hill, 26, of Utah, did the research and explained why she pulled the trigger on an MSR. “We looked at the AR-15 and all in one package. You can aim with it, protect yourself with it, hunt with it. Fortunately, we didn’t have to use it for self-defense, but it’s comforting to know it’s there to protect my children and family. “
These feelings are spread among buyers.
ONssault Weapons Ban 2.0
President Biden is no stranger to a so-called “offensive weapons” ban. As the then chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, President Biden initiated the ban on assault weapons in 1994. This ban expired in 2004 and did not work. NSSF Data shows that the ban had no effect on crime reduction.
25 years later, while standing up for his current office, President Biden did not allow facts to stand in the way of his bogeyman fear tactics. He campaigns with a gun control barrier banning MSRs and continuing to knowingly misidentify them as so-called “assault rifles” and “weapons of war”, even though MSRs use the same semi-automatic fire technology as common handguns and some shotguns. The technology was introduced at the end of the 19th century and appeared on shelves from the year 1903. The Colt Sporter, an early version of the AR-15, was sold commercially in the early 1960s.
President Biden would erase that story and undo the culture of responsible gun ownership if left to his own devices.
Interviewed the president on the campaign in 2019, CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked, “For gun owners out there who say a Biden administration means they’re going to get my guns …” “Bingo!” President Biden interrupted. “You’re right when you have an assault weapon … the fact is, it should be illegal. Period.”
President Biden even teased the installation of former US Representative Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke as his tsar, who led efforts to establish a national MSR register and seizure to plan. This “mandatory buyback” plan would force MSR owners to “act” if they fail to comply and allow the US government to use billions of dollars in taxpayers’ money to confiscate legitimate firearms.
With President Bidens announcement This week of his gun control plan, which includes an MSR ban, would mean that nearly 20 million Americans who own MSR would become criminals. That doesn’t sound like “unifying the country,” especially when millions of these MSR owners are in communities that have had law enforcement budgets cutleading to spikes in crime.
Even with an impending MSR ban on the horizon, voters let their voices be heard loud and clear and rejected more state and local gun controls. The multi-million dollar effort by gun control groups, led by Antigun billionaire Michael Bloomberg, nearly failed every way. Americans overwhelmingly voted with their wallets to exercise their rights under the Second Amendment, including the purchase of MSRs.
Instead of flawed gun control systems like the MSR ban, the firearms industry will continue to advertise Real solutions to reduce unintentional and criminal misuse of firearms. President Biden should also listen to the American people on this issue.
