Rainelle man arrested on drug charges | News
An early morning traffic obstruction in Rainelle resulted in drug charges being brought against a Greenbrier County man.
According to Sheriff’s Sgt.CR Smith and Lt. BA Sheppard initiated the stop near the intersection of US 60 and James River Kanawha Turnpike around 2 a.m. on Wednesday. The driver pulled his vehicle into the parking lot of an apartment building, jumped out, and fled on foot with a backpack, according to Bruce Sloan, sheriff of Greenbrier County.
Smith pursued and arrested the suspect, identified as Chet Edward Gunder, 45, of Rainelle.
According to Sloan, Gunder was in possession of a 9mm pistol, a 45 caliber pistol, several ziplock bags totaling over 100 grams of methamphetamine, 7.6 grams of heroin, 2.3 grams of marijuana, three LSD stamps, and 0.6 grams g of MDMA and digital scales.
Gunder was charged with five controlled substance counts with the intent of delivering and escaping on foot. As of Wednesday lunchtime, he was detained at the Southern Regional Jail in Beaver, without ties.
