Rockland County man arrested for selling illegal guns

NEW CITY – A Nyack man was arrested for selling weapons as part of an ongoing operation to remove illegal weapons from the streets of Rockland County.

Darren Jemison, 36, surrendered to Orangetown police on April 8 and was turned over to the sheriff’s office on an active warrant for allegedly selling multiple firearms to an individual.

In January 2020, the Rockland County Drug Task Force and Orangetown Police opened an investigation into the sale of illegal firearms in the village of Nyack.

The task force conducted several covert operations in which Jemison sold several firearms. These arms sales took place in the area of ​​the Nyack Plaza residential complex.

The weapons included two loaded 9 mm Taurus pistols and a loaded special revolver of caliber Taurus .38.

Jemison was charged by a grand jury with criminal possession of a gun and two cases of criminal possession of a firearm.
