Rome woman arrested on weapons, drug charges

CITY OF SCHODACK – A woman from Rome was taken into custody on Saturday during a traffic obstruction on the state road in the Rensselaer district after a heroine and illegal firearms were found in her vehicle.

The driver identified as Alexis E. Miranda, 25, from Rome searched the car.

During the search, soldiers said they had approximately 10.8 grams of heroin, a Smith & Wesson M&P .380 pistol, a Ruger 9mm pistol, a ZIG M1911-A1 .45 pistol, a SCCY 9mm -Gun and a 9mm magazine with six cartridges discovered. All handguns were defaced with serial numbers scraped off and loaded, soldiers said.

Miranda did not have a state pistol license and was taken into custody. She was taken to the State Police at Albany Barracks where she was charged with: criminal possession of a third degree controlled substance, a Class B crime; criminal possession of a fourth degree controlled substance, a class C crime; four cases of criminal possession of a second degree weapon, a class C crime; and four cases of third-degree gun possession, a class D crime for possession of guns whose serial numbers have been defaced.

Miranda was indicted in the Schodack City Court and
was taken to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of bail or $ 20,000 bail.
