Shooting Illustrated | First Look: Century Arms AP5

Century Arms launches its line of AP5 firearms in the US. The AP5, also known as the “Apparatus Pistol”, is a decelerated blowback firearm based on an original and historical design from the 1970s. The roller lock platform has been widely recognized for over 50 years and has been adopted for worldwide use. The AP5 line of firearms were imported from the MKE manufacturing facility in Turkey and are available in a full-size model called the AP5, a medium-sized version called the AP5-P, and a fully concealable version like the AP5-M.

“This gun platform is an icon,” said Adam Ruonala, Century Arms director of marketing. “At Century Arms, we have been leaders in the US arms import business for many years. The opportunity to bring such a fan favorite to the US market under our company flag is a great honor for everyone involved in the project. ”

Each model of the AP5 comes standard with a sturdy plastic carrying case, two 30-round magazines, a factory cleaning kit, a Picatinny-style optics holder, a factory sling and a gun lock. All AP5 firearms have a 9 x 19 mm chamber and a cold forged barrel with a rotation of 1: 9.8 inches. The AP5 and AP5-P barrels each have a quick-release fastener with three eyelets and a 1 / 2×28 threaded end for mounting a suppressor or other muzzle device.
