Shooting Sports USA | New: TaurusTX 22 Competition

Taurus has announced the next iteration of its TaurusTX 22.22 LR semi-automatic sport pistol. The new TaurusTX 22 competition (MSRP: $ 485) builds on the original TaurusTX 22 with a slider assembly designed for optical compatibility.

The original TaurusTX 22 proved to be a huge hit with Rimfire fans after its launch in 2019. Taurus designed this full-frame polymer pistol with an emphasis on ergonomics and performance to deliver a budget-friendly, competitive pistol.

With a skeletonized slide, the new TaurusTX 22 Competition has a cutout between the ejection opening and directly behind the visor. A 5-inch bull barrel with machined breech end accepts a base mounting plate. Two small adapter plates provide four different assembly patterns. The mounting system allows the following (but not limited to) sight models to be used: Trijicon RMR, C-More STS2, Vortex Venom, Doctor Noblex, Burris Fast Fire, Sightmark Mini, Holosun HS507C and Leupold DeltaPoint Pro. In addition, the match-grade bull barrel is supplied from the factory with a thread to accept a suppressor or a muzzle device and includes thread protection.

Jessie Harrison, Taurus Shooting Team Captain, says:

“With this weapon, from the beginning of the TaurusTX 22 to this competition model, the Taurus engineers definitely thought outside the box. You’ve put a lot of thought and research into the ergonomics of the handle and designed something that feels natural in the hand. The trigger system is unlike any other Taurus firearm – a one-shot trigger that is fired by a striker and is smooth to the touch and breaks crisp. This is important for speed and quick fire from a competitor’s point of view. The threaded cylinder, which is normally used for a suppressor, can be doubled for a compensator if desired. All you need is to add the optics of your choice and you’re ready to take part in the races. ”

Taurus also offers a TX22 Competition upper kit for those who want to convert the existing TaurusTX 22 to the Competition configuration. Learn more at
