Stolen firearm, crack cocaine seized at traffic control in Airdrie

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Airdrie on July 25 after crack cocaine and a loaded semi-automatic pistol were confiscated at a traffic stop. According to Airdrie RCMP, the traffic disruption occurred at around 11:20 pm

A 19-year-old man was arrested in Airdrie on July 25 after crack cocaine and a loaded semi-automatic pistol were confiscated at a traffic stop.

According to Airdrie RCMP, the traffic obstruction occurred at around 11:20 pm at King’s Heights Gate. The search officer found the semi-automatic pistol, which had previously been reported stolen, as well as an over-capacity magazine and 0.4 grams of cracked cocaine.

A department press release said that Kashif Khan Said, 19, is now on multiple charges including illegal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a weapon obtained through crime and unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon.

“Kashif Said has been conditionally released and will appear in the Airdrie Provincial Court on September 2,” the release said.
