Stuart Police arrest man after gunshot report at Sneaki Tiki

STUART – A report of gunfire at Sneaki Tiki restaurant in downtown Stuart on Saturday caused police to arrest a man they said was drunk and had a 9mm gun, according to an affidavit.

Edgard Lopez, 29, was arrested by Stuart police for disorderly poisoning in a public location around 10pm, resulting in a disruption.

Investigators said after responding to a report of a malfunction, they received information about a possible shot that was fired at the restaurant on the 200 block on South Colorado Avenue. Police reported finding Lopez on the ground next to a gun.

Police said they found a cartridge case, four live cartridges and a chip made of concrete that matched a shot. Police reported Lopez said the gun was his.

According to the affidavit, a security video showed Lopez jerking his arms and shoulders as if he had fired a gun at the bar before going outside and returning with a pistol.

The bartender said prior to the reported shooting he saw Lopez with someone else and later stopped serving him because he thought he had “consumed enough alcohol,” the affidavit reads.

Lopez, who is listed as a Palm City resident, was released on Sunday on $ 250 bail, a prison officer said Tuesday.

According to the affidavit, he will not be charged with weapons.
