Two repeat offenders arrested with loaded guns in separate incidents in Roxbury, police say

Boston police report they arrested two men who they said wandered around Roxbury on Friday and early this morning, one on foot and the other in a gold BMW.

Police said they responded to a call about a man with a gun on Warren Street across from the Boston Latin Academy at around 6:10 p.m. Friday and found a man who matched a witness description up a fence and ran down Glenburne Street.

Officers followed the male on foot and found a discarded firearm in the back of 3 Quincy Place. Assisting units, including two K-9s, responded to the scene and set up a perimeter to locate the suspect. When the K-9 was deployed, they quickly located and arrested the man lying in the fat brush next to 1 Gannett Street. The weapon was determined to be a V. Bernardelli Model 80.380 caliber weapon loaded with five rounds of live ammunition.

Ramone Miles, 49, from Mattapan, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, the third offense, illegal possession of a loaded firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition, police said. He has also been charged as a Level 3 professional armed criminal which could mean a longer sentence if convicted on the other charge.

Rosario is awaiting trial after being arrested on Norfolk Street in Dorchester in January on similar gun charges.
