ULBRICHTS Ballistic head protection has reached a new level

What is not widely known, however, is that these helmets cannot even really protect the wearer from threats from handguns (like 9mm and .44 mag bullets). Police officers and soldiers continue to be killed or seriously injured by the dramatic deformation of the helmet on the back, which can cause significant skull and brain damage. As a result, these helmets do not really protect the wearer from rifle or pistol ammunition.

The new head protection systems from ULBRICHTS are able to stop rifle ammunition and reduce the deformation of the rear and the remaining kinetic energy to survivable limits. The newly developed ballistic protection systems are supplied either as stand-alone rifle helmets or as a combination with an attachable light head protection.

One of the systems is able to stop the widely used and highly lethal steel core Kalashnikov ammunition (7.62 x 39 mm MSC) while reducing the deformation of the back and the remaining kinetic energy to a survivable level. Tests according to MIL-STD conducted in a certified US NIJ and MIL laboratory have shown that the average deformation value of the back of such systems hit by steel-core Kalashnikov cartridges is less than 10 mm, while the most other helmets cannot even achieve comparable values with 9 mm pistol ammunition. In addition, the remaining kinetic energy of this system is well below 25 joules when hit by Kalashnikov MSC bullets measuring 7.62 x 39 mm.

Of course, all ULBRICHTS Protection helmets meet the requirements of the American NIJ IIIA standard and the European VPAM HVN 2009 Level 3 standard with a residual kinetic energy of less than 25 joules.
