Walk and Roll for Spina bifida held in Winchester

WINCHESTER, Ky (WTVQ) – Walk and Roll for Spinda bifida took place today in Winchester at George Rogers Clarke Football Stadium.

It is a nationally recognized event with walks across the country to raise awareness and funding in the fight against spina bifida. Amie Moore, the organizer of the Winchester event, became involved after finding out that her son Lincoln would be born with the disease. Doctors didn’t think Lincoln would ever walk or speak. 4 years later he does both.

Moore says her son’s brave struggle with the disease inspired her to bring Walk and Roll to her town.

“This little guy here. He’s why I did this. Um, it makes me want to be a voice for him. Although he can speak, he is just very shy. But to be a voice for everyone else, ”she said.

Another walk and roll event will take place in Lexington next weekend.
